VJC Strings Concert!

havent blogged for very long le! haha. this week has been rather hectic:
monday: made ic, vjc practice
tuesday: cca, vjc practice
wednesday: vjc practice
thursday: cca, vjc practice
friday: bass lesson, vjc CONCERT!

yep. for everyday of this week, me pinyan edwyna and melissa have been practicing with the vjc string ensemble. was quite fun. made new friends! afzal, the vjc bassist; weiting, pinyan's fellow 'bimbo' friend; zhongyu the concert master; joel the president. and some others: lindsey, li ling, yu ze and kuannan the RISE bassist, john shin the RISE cellist, joanna, mr sze's violin/viola student and more. haha. vj people are a great bunch of people! things got quite bad for mr sze during practices. he was really angry with the people. he even walked out of the rehersal and used some bad words. and we were telling them "It's normal! We get that all the time in nanyang" and they were like really shocked. but i guess the scolding really woke everyone up. but the vjc people also very ke lian! they rehearse from 9-5 everyday from monday to wednesday, and on tuesday 7pm to 9pm! but they really worked very hard=D
so. yesterday me and edwyna went for bass lesson. then we took 171 to raffles hotel. on the way there edwyna was smsing john shin and somehow we ended up meeting him for lunch?! yeah. anyway we reached raffles city and window shopped abit cos we are two very broke people=D went to the food court. and pinyan came! and edwyna and i ended up eating the same thing=/ then john shin came. we were worried that we couldnt find him cos he was too short:P anyway we found him and me and pinyan watched edywna and him eat. (i finished my food long ago) then after that we went to jubliee hall. john shin made us climb the stairs =/ we were the first ones to reach there and it was really stuffy and hot. went to the backstage. john shin's cello and stuff were in one of the changing rooms, we put ours in another. there were only 3 dressing rooms and they were so small! then we explored the place until this person came and told us that the booking was supposed to be at 3 and we could only come in at 2.30. (it was 1.45) so we moved all our stuff out. and that person said nevermind we can leave our things there at our own risk! so we moved it back again. then we walked around. went to this museum in the hotel. so cool right! haha john shin edwyna pinyan were pretending to be very interested in some watches =/ then we walked around. saw this picture of one of RI's ex principals. some british (?) guy. and we saw a cello that had 3 strings, 3 pegs and no bridge. and 3 tubas. =D was quite cool. there were pictures of charlie chaplin, george bush (the old one) and sidney sheldon! with the signature!=D=D
then we saw that the vj people arrived. so we went back in. set up everything blablabla. then mr sze came. was in quite a good mood. we ran through beethoven and tchaikovsky rather quickly and everything ended at 4.15! oh and guest players received a certificate of participation. we also received a tshirt handphone pouch from mini toons and this vanguard sheet card and a box of chocs from the vj strings! so nice of them. thank you!

[edit] blogger ate up my post from this part onwards but there were some nice things so im going to retype a shorter version! stupid blogger!
after refersal i was supposed to go the raffles city with mel and ed but they kept laughing for no reason so i decided to wait for pinyan. after talking to weiting for a bit, me pinyan and joanna went to raffles city. i got this helium balloon for pinyan but she refused to take it to raffles city so we had to wait for her to run back to backstage to leave it there haha. met edwyna and mel at mph. then decided we were hungry. so we went to basement. saw mr han and his wife. and ate fried mars bars. haha. then went back to eat dinner. haha ate alot. mel and ed saved us 3 seats, but when we went over john shin left! dunno why. haha. then mel and ed left too and zhongyu and anthony (viola sl) came and we took photos! but the photos are with zhongyu. metal note: get from him!
then went to change blabla. helped each other with make up. then it was concert time! so fast! afzal was super nervous. kwangnan too. edwyna was desperately trying to calm him down. anyway. tchaikovsky. was kinda screwed. mr sze 'tsked' twice! super scary. then during interval spotted mummy and mei. and edwyna's mum dad sis! and thanks to jiale and evelyn for coming and for the chocs! and LOOK HERE. SCANDAL HERE. (heh heh melissa!) melissa said that she saw that shermaine (vln2) had a lot of flowers and she wanted to take some! then me and edwyna went OOH! and i went to tell john shin. haha. then he said something but i couldnt hear cos mel was busy poking me with her cello bow. then we went back to the changing room. a while later shermaine came in and we told her about mel. then she said something like oh thats why john shin asked me for flowers but when i asked him why he was like hemming and hawwing. then when she agreed and offered to give him a big one he left. then we started laughing and mel was super pissed! hahaha. THERE. MELISSA. HAHAHA=D
anyway 2nd half. was okay. kwuangnan came in wrong and mr sze started in our direction. super scary. there was this oboe solo part, but the oboist started coughing =( . after the concert was over mr sze got presents from the vjc strings people which included a heart shape pillow haha. then after the concert he stood at the door of the backstage congratulating everyone. and when he saw me and edwyna, he said something like "ah my nanyang girls! i can always count on you, cant i?" me and edwyna got a huge shock. dunno why. haha and we ran into the changing room and told everyone. hahahaha.
after that everything was a big mess. we were busy taking pictures and exchanging contacts. and helping to pack the basses. me and edwyna took the wrong cases and we had to strip the bass again to re pack them in the correct ones haha. sorry edwyna!

okay enough for today! oh and thanks to edwyna's dad for fetching us everywhere=D haha! i had loads of fun with vjc strings and seriously going to miss them alot! =D hope to see you at our concert hahaha!
